A full-bodied milk stout brewed with native strawberry gum leaf is the latest rendition of Beerfarm’s popular Native Series collaboration series with South West roaming fine-diners Fervor Food. If the thought of drinking the sweet, berry-flavoured native leaf in a luscious stout base is appealing to you, then put this one at the top of your shopping list.
Although The Crafty Pint can’t endorse the many claimed health benefits of consuming the strawberry gum leaf, subtleties of sweet berry and light acidity can certainly be confirmed as present in this limited and seasonal release that has seen a swag of the wild grown leaf added to the boil along with Magnum and Cascade hops. A malt base that includes chocolate and roasted malts is rich, lasting and a perfect vehicle for the captivating strawberry gum flavours
The Native Series from Beerfarm and Fervor is a celebration and appreciation of indigenous food and cultures in Australia; along with producing delicious beers that tell a story of native ingredients, the series also pays respect to the traditional custodians of this land who have been the caretakers of these ingredients for thousands of years. So, when you pick up a can, don’t forget to peel back the label to learn more.
