It's fair to assume that nothing would surprise craft beer drinkers anymore, with an array of interesting and perplexing ingredient-spiked beers coming at us ever faster. So it is that Rocky Ridge's Custard Tart Stout may have punters asking how, but certainly not why, in a era of eccentric beer.
Brewed in collaboration with Hong Kong craft brewers Gweilo, the rich pastry stout resembles and acknowledges the iconic custard tart dessert that is famous in the global city. It features lactose, vanilla beans, house made candi sugar and a pinch of cinnamon, with the finished beer successfully replicating a flavour profile akin to a custard-based dessert. Some Victory malt in the grain bill lends bready, shortcrust like flavours to round out the recipe further.
It's another release in a long line of fun, exciting and style-bending collaborations from the Rocky Ridge team, with this sweet and extravagant stout eager to earn a place in your fridge as we transition out of a cold and wet winter.
