If you gave Three Day Weekend TDH NEIPA to me without telling me the style, I wouldn’t guess that it was a triple dry-hopped NEIPA.
It pours dark gold, burnt orange colour that isn’t bright, but I wouldn’t go so far as to call it hazy either. The flavours reminded me of Sunday Road’s Bigger Enigma, the double Enigma Ale they brewed as a birthday beer in 2021. Sweet malt and sticky hops join together to give overripe pawpaw and mango, citrus peel, and a healthy dose of resin. There’s also an impression of Earl Grey: both the bitter citrus of the bergamot and the floral earthiness of the tea itself. As this IPA settled out into an earthy, spicy hop bitterness at the end of each sip, I found myself nodding with approval.
If you gave this to me to taste blind, I’d guess it was a modern West Coast IPA. And I’d thank you for giving it to me to taste.
