Demonstrating no desire to slow down their efforts to keep pumping out original beers, Rocky Ridge here have released two freshies for the month of September: a strikingly clear California IPA and a quaffable Belgian witbier.
The former, California Stars, is unusually transparent given the current nature of the world of IPAs, but still has a faint haze and a radiating golden hue. On tasting, a simple, clean malt profile carries layers of grassy, piney, berry and ripe stonefruit hop characters. Drinkability is noteworthy given the relatively high ABV, while the finish is super short, further enhancing this approachable IPA offshoot.
Holy Sh*t! I’m a Dad Again, conceived by Mitch, on the other hand, is a classically-styled witbier with bold yeast-derived esters of clove and banana plus breadiness, orange and a touch of grassy hop character. A full-flavoured profile pairs well with a creamy mouthfeel and tight, moussey carbonation in what's a very drinkable offering with yeast-driven flavours that linger.
