Lord Nelson sure know how to launch a beer. They even christened their Smooth Sailing Session Ale with a party on the Carnival Splendour cruise ship overlooking Sydney Harbour to celebrate it being on tap. Since 2014, the Lord’s Thirsty Frog Summer Ale has been the craft ale of choice on board, but a decade on, Smooth Sailing commandeered the ship just in time to mark the tenth anniversary of the companies’ partnership.
Available on sea and land, this 3.8 percent session ale is an easy, breezy brew that’s perfect for quaffing by the pool without worrying you might fall in it later. Light, bright gold in the glass with a subtle citrus aroma, it’s a clean and affable drop with low bitterness and a distinct fruity-grassy hop character. Extra sail ale, anyone?
