Moo Brew's Winter IPA is back for, well, winter, and the black IPA delivers just as it's done in the past. Pour as black as any black IPA could pour, it possesses a slowly-swirling viscosity that's more visually arresting than a 6.5 percent ABV has any right to be. Presumably, that's down to the intensity of the way the modern hops are invited to dance with dark malts to create that familiar (to fans of the style) herbaceous quality like a dark chocolate liquorice bullet – albeit with most of the sweetness removed.
Of course, Moo have long had two of Australia's finest dark beers in their ouevre and, for winter 2024, they're showcasing them alongside Winter IPA with a dash of their signature humour. The Winter Packs feature four Winter IPAs, six of their pintable Dark Ale, four of their classic Stout and a stubby holder like no other: made from wallaby fur and ready to be wrapped around a can next time you're camping under the stars. Feels like something Yeti should have thought of...
