The Real Ale is Young Henrys take on a classic English Best Bitter. As you'd want from the style, it's a fairly low alcohol beer at 4 per cent abv, has fairly low carbonation and a long, smooth bitterness. That bitterness comes from the all-Australian hops - Galaxy, Stella and Topaz - and they also add a bit of a citrus kick. With a 50-50 malt balance between Australian varieties and the classic English variety Maris Otter, Young Henrys Real Ale has a real solid malt backbone which helps produce some slightly sweet, toffee flavours. This is a beer that undoubtedly cries out for repeated drinking, but for those seeking even more sessionability the Real Ale should be sought out on handpump.
