Cheeky Monkey Double IPA

In an increasingly hazy world, Cheeky’s brewing monkeys have bucked the trend and announced the arrival of spring with a straight up double IPA. As the can's evocative label – one of the best yet from the brewery – suggests, this beer is designed to be all about citrus, something the brewers set out to achieve through judicious use of Citra, Mandarina Bavaria and the relatively new Lemon Drop hop.

A resinous aroma teases while the taste keeps things tight with light marmalade, a clean but weighty mouthfeel and herbaceous stipples upon a base that draws from the success of stablemate West Coast IPA‘s approach to balancing caramel malt. The 8.1 percent ABV is well integrated but becomes more frisky throughout tasting in a beer of a size someone might choose to crack if they had good news to celebrate.
