Stout is proving to be a very versatile style, with milk stouts, tropical stouts, pastry stouts and foreign extra stouts just a few of those doing the rounds these days. But, sometimes, just a straightforward stout is all you want: no adjuncts or crazy dessert additions, but something a little more simple.
Inside Voice is a foreign extra stout that takes a little potshot at the craziness of the beer world today†, with a label that states: “It’s not a choc-peanut-butter-marshmallow-pancake-batter-milkshake-gose. It's a stout, simple, uncomplicated normal stout. I’d like a single, quiet moment to enjoy my nice beer, please.”
Dark brown to light black in colour, milk chocolate dominates the aroma, with a cameo appearance by roasted grains and some fruity esters too. The milk chocolate again dominates the flavour, adding a certain creaminess to the finish, while the roast adds a slight bitterness to balance out the sweetness, as does the quite dry finish. There's no fancy flavourings – just a good ole fashioned, solid stout.

† Of course, we'd never suggest Little Bang have been part of the beer world's craziness.
