It’s not too often that a beer gets a gold medal before it's released but they say patience is a virtue and it’s certainly one held in high regard by Molly Rose. Peach, Peach, Nectarine is a stonefruit sour that brewery founder Nic Sandery entered into the Australian International Beer Awards in May, only to receive a gold medal and then wait a few months before releasing it bottles.
The beer saw white and yellow peaches and nectarines added to a blended sour with those stonefruits then left to sit for some 12 months. Despite ageing for an entire year, those fruits couldn’t come across as fresher, with fleshy and vibrant peach and stonefruit tasting as though you’ve just picked them from the tree. On top of that, there’s a more sherbety fruit character that really dances across the palate and marries seamlessly with the beer’s lingering tartness.
