Tasmanian brewing company Ocho's seasonal IPA series continue with Green, the colour chosen to represent spring. As with past releases, it's an IPA that comes chock full of hops, in this case Galaxy, Citra and Mosaic.
As one might expect with such a combination, there's elements of those sweeter, tropical, bubblegum like hop aromas that dominate the style these days. But (and maybe this is perceived due to having "spring" in mind while sampling), they sit alongside floral, earthy, kinda foresty aromas too. The body is relatively full, with specialty malts delivering a little more sweetness and a slightly darker hue than is common in IPAs today – not to mention a lick of spice from the rye malt in the mix – and everything coming together to create a resinous stickiness that helps broaden what's a pretty potent, drying bitterness.
