When owners Jason Harris and Craig Basford allowed their brewers free rein on recipe design, it was only a matter of time before a NEIPA was brewed. When it was Dave Watts’ turn to concoct something new, he turned to hops, hops and more hops, loading The Hazing with an all-American quartet of Mosaic, Magnum, Citra and Ekuanot.
Big Shed’s description pretty much nails the appearance: “murky as the River Murray.” As to what lies beneath, well, who knows because you definitely can’t see through it. What you'll take from it, however, are tropical fruits – and plenty of them: papaya, pawpaw, mango, passion fruit... the list goes on. The mouthfeel is soft but the hops are punchy: there's a little bitterness but nothing over the top, allowing the beer to finishing with just a touch of sweetness.
