After listening to Rodenbach’s Rudi Ghequire at BrewCon 2019, Big Shed's head brewer Pete Bradley flew back to SA inspired. Armed with his new knowledge, he decided to whip up a peach sour to add to Big Shed's range. He aimed for a pH of 3.5 and hit his target bang on, adding a huge amount of peach puree right at the end of fermentation to maximise impact.
Pouring hazy and bright yellow in colour, with a perfectly white and persistent fluffy head, fresh, fleshy peaches drive the aroma, sending forth an orchard's worth of stone fruit. The sourness is reserved and just enough to balance out the sweet fruit, while providing a slight twang. The peaches contribute a decent juiciness too, which allows the fruit to shine. The medium dryness rounds out the beer, leaving the drinker searching for more.
Fresh, fruity and peachy good.
