Way back in 2018, Mr West asked their close mates at Canada’s Collective Arts Brewing to work on a beer with them as part of Pint of Origin and their joint minds went to an Australian classic. Taking inspiration from the malt powder that’s best served piled into a mug with about an inch of milk, Chocolate Malt Milkshake Breakfast Stout proved a ranging success. So much so that it was given follow-up for Pint of Origin 2022, with Burnley Brewing joining the party to create the double stout, Remix.
This time around, the beer is bigger and comes in a nitro can to ensure it’s as creamy as can be. It’s certainly an impressively silky beer and that smooth body brings with it loads of chocolate that sits somewhere between what you’d find in a malt-filled milkshake and a melted-down block of chocolate. There is also a mix of caramel and toffee lying within and while your doctor might disagree, surely the best way to enjoy this beer is by dusting off your Milo tin so you can heap a few spoonfuls of it into your pint glass.
Meanwhile, if you're seeking something a little less chocolatey and a whole lot fruitier, Burnley have brought back their fruited Berliner weisse, x5 Fruit.
