3 Ravens' celebration of the house mixed culture inhabiting many of the barrels at their Thornbury brewery continues its "evolution not revolution" mission with the arrival of the 2022 vintage. This blend of the four barrels the brewers felt showcased the best expression of said culture was bottled back in February 2022, a full 12 months before release. And it brings the sort of delights only such patiently-curated beers can bring.
For a start, it couldn't look any more like such beers should, courtesy of its smoothly hazy peach hue, while there's a lovely fine bead carbonation that sticks around with every swirl and sip. You'll find heaps of stone fruit, with nectarine to the fore, but also an acidity that's both lemony-sweet and cherry-sour, not to mention elements of barnyard funk. And it's all wrapped up with a dry, herbal finish in the sort of package that only comes with time.
