You can set your watch by it. Winter arrives – Little Creatures release a seasonal stout. While that might sound repetitious, it's actually a gentling evolving affair, moving up and down in ABV and floating around the wider realm of the stout world, albeit without doing anything too crazy.
In 2019, they've upped the hops although, in choosing English classic Fuggles and newer US variety Loral – which possesses something of the Old and New Worlds about it – to do the heavy lifting on that front, don't go in expecting anything too outré or American-inspired. Indeed, it's as line and length as you could wish for: plenty of dark chocolate and roasted grains, a hint of dark fruits and a drying, earthy bitterness.
Creatures head brewer Russ Gosling says: "We want people to take a sip and feel like they’re in a cosy London pub by a roaring fire." Hunt down some logs and a copy of the Racing Post and you're there.
